This Carrousel collection with metal lid was created especially for our gallery by Akiko Kuwahata and Ken Winther in their Danish workshop.
Each piece is made from a rare, hard and dense wood. Akiko and Ken's mastery of their technique allows them to achieve a perfect polish and to capture all the subtlety and delicacy of the grain of each type of wood they work with.

Carrouselis a jewellery box with a cone at its centre, the essential element of the box. The design of this box was motivated by an exploration of the shape and functional aspects of the cone, which is the central element of the piece. It houses the rings and is also the device that holds the lid in place. If you stack several Carousels, the cone also holds the top carousel.
Akiko and Ken were inspired by the traditional design of the carousel with the structure supported by a central column.
