Marie de Lignerolles
Painting through the void.
After studying Applied Arts at Olivier de Serre and then at ENSCI, Marie de Lignerolles worked in various design studios, notably at BHV & Galeries Lafayette and Monoprix. She then worked with the various Artistic Departments of Hermès as Coordinator of Special Orders.
From 2017 she turned towards a more personal plastic expression and started a collaboration with Atelier Sauvage, craftsmen and cabinet makers for the exhibition of a monumental work at the Grand Palais in 2018. Reinforced in the desire to deepen her personal work, she embarks on plastic research that leads to numerous compositions of gouache paper.
In his approach, in addition to the emotional power of the colours and the power of the forms, it is the notion of "counter-form" and emptiness that structure the pieces. It is a question of giving a role to the void, of giving body to absence, and giving it even more density than the coloured forms juxtaposed with this white.
Contrast of colours and values, work on the confrontation and dialogue between the forms that produce the voids...
Between all these elements, the line remains, resists and recalls the presence of the hand at the origin of creation. The hand that decides the movement, the movement of life.
