Katia Jacquet

Katia Jacquet grew up not far from the Jura mountains.

After studying at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, she became creative director in various design agencies before setting up her own studio.

Questioning the meaning of objects and the energy they exude, Katia aspires to create sculptural pieces that are also useful, durable objects. Fascinated by the craftsman's gesture, she imbues her works with all the emotion that goes into making them.

In a quest for balance, purity, simplicity and minimalism, the artist creates her geometrically-shaped ceramics in her studio in Les Lilas.

Katia chooses clay, a tactile, raw and minimally processed material, to preserve its energy and expressive power; she creates objects with sculptural dimensions, precisely defining the contours of shapes in space.

This simplified geometric language plays perfectly with the balance of volumes to build endearing totem poles.
